Like individuals and private businesses, governmental entities
are legally responsible for injuries that are caused by their
wrongful conduct. Accordingly, when someone is injured by the
negligence of a local, state or federal government employee,
the injured person may bring a cause of action against the governmental
entity to recover compensation for his or her injures.
JMP has experience representing individuals against governmental
entities in a broad range of case types, including but not limited
to the following:
- Claims against police officers and other law enforcement
personnel for brutality and other unfair treatment;
- Claims against local school boards for the negligent
acts of their teachers, coaches and other employees;
- Claims against departments of transportation, planning
agencies and highway safety boards for the negligent design
and maintenance of roads and highways;
- Claims arising from dangerous conditions on publicly-owned
property;
- Claims against governmental agencies for the general
negligence of their employees, such as negligent operation
of motor vehicles, negligent maintenance of public property
and other negligent conduct.
