John Jensen is an accomplished trial attorney who has helped
his catastrophic injury clients obtain record breaking results.
Over the course of his career, John has represented people who
have been injured due to medical malpractice, people whose children
have been killed by defective automobiles and people who have
been critically injured while on the job.
Prior to forming Jensen McGrath Podgorny, John was a partner
at Faison & Gillespie, a 13-lawyer firm specializing in
medical malpractice cases. Before that he practiced in Washington,
D.C. with Ross, Dixon & Bell, a 100-lawyer firm specializing
in the defense of complex litigation cases.
John is actively involved in the North Carolina Academy of Trial
Lawyers. He has served as the Chair of the Professional Negligence
Section and as the Technology Chair for Professional Negligence
Section. Presently, he serves as a PAC Trustee and member of
the Public Education Committee.
John has chaired and taught numerous seminars on legal topics
including trial technology, discovery tactics and the psychology
of a successful jury trial.
John’s career as a trial attorney is marked by a history
of success on behalf of his clients. He recently helped recover
$13.5 million for a family whose newborn daughter was paralyzed
when the physicians and nurses caring for the baby broke her
neck during delivery.
John also recently helped his clients obtain a jury verdict
of $4.5 million against a surgeon who failed to diagnose and
treat a patient’s appendicitis, resulting in his death
after ten days of hospitalization.
In cases against a major automobile manufacturer, he represented
three separate families whose children's deaths were caused
by a defective automobile door latch. One of these cases ultimately
resulted in a $262.5 million verdict in favor of the families.

Also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the
Eastern District of North Carolina, U.S. District Court for
the Eastern District of Virginia, U.S. District Court for the
Western District of Virginia and the U.S. Court of Appeals for
the Fourth Circuit.
