Mark McGrath is a trial attorney with extensive experience
in catastrophic injury litigation, including cases arising
from electrical injuries, inadequate security, workplace and
industrial accidents, medical malpractice and nursing home
litigation.
Prior to forming JMP, Mark was a partner with the firm of
Faison & Gillespie, a Durham firm specializing in medical
malpractice and catastrophic injury cases. Before then,
Mark
worked as an attorney at large firms in New York and Charlotte,
representing insurance companies and other large corporations
in catastrophic injury and other complex
litigation cases.
Mark has handled numerous high profile cases that have appeared
in newspapers and on television across the state. In the
past
four years, Mark has helped resolve cases through verdicts
and settlements that total in the tens of millions of dollars.
He has consistently helped his clients recover some of the
largest personal injury verdicts and settlements published
in North Carolina. Mark regularly contributes to legal and
business magazines, and has written a number of amicus briefs
on behalf of the North Carolina
Academy of Trial Lawyers.
Mark recently represented the family of two boys who were
killed when their sailboat made contact with low-hanging power
lines, a case that resulted in a $2.5 million settlement.
In another recent case, Mark represented an electrical worker
who was severely burned while working in a substation. Evidence
revealed that the owner of the substation had energized the
equipment without notifying the worker. That case settled
prior to trial for $6.2 million.
